Adult Porn Magazines Distributed In The United States

1940-1999

The following is a list of porn magazines available in the United States from the Post War era till the end of the golden age of porn (1940-1999). This is a work in progress and not meant to be a definitive list. Over time we hope to have the titles of all of the major publishers and magazines that were distributed in the United States and Canada between 1949-1990.

Along with the title we have tried to provide as much information as we have about the actual title. However there are 3 things you should keep in mind when going through the list:

1. Historically many porn magazine publishers intentionally omitted placing many of the most basic identifiers in there magazine such as year, publisher name or issue number. This was done primarily for legal purposes. Publishers such as Parliament, Swedish Erotica, Gourmet, Nuance, Academy, GSN and Visions Of Fantasy were well known for this. (For further information on why this was done see our earlier article How To Identify Adult Porn Magazines)

2. During the Golden Age of Porn (approximately 1969-1999) many publishers of adult magazines regularly published what appeared to be single one shot titles that were actually part of a serial magazine series. For example Two In A Tub #1 is actually Swedish Erotica magazine #294 and Two In A Tub #2 is actually Swedish Erotica #321 and so on. The titles listed below are not cross referenced to reflect this practice. However we hope to eventually correct this in later updates of the list.

3. Starting in the 1960’s adult magazine publishers regularly reprinted popular magazines over and over again. Sometimes they were exact reprints and other times there would be slight variations in the title name or photos displayed. Publishers were also known to reprint the same contents of one magazine with an altogether different title and cover art.
